Merry Christmas! (Orthodox Christmas, that is!)
Everybody knows that Christmas day is December 25th, right? Well it’s actually up for debate! Depending on what you believe in and what you are celebrating! The date of December 25th (originally used for various mid-winter celebrations) was hijacked by the fourth-century Roman emperor Constantine, who moved the celebration of the nativity to that day. Orthodox Christian Churches actually celebrate the birth of Jesus on January 7th, the Armenian Apostolic Church mostly celebrates the nativity in combination with the Feast of Epiphany on January 6th, but some use the Julian calendar and thus celebrate Christmas Day on January 19th!
